The island abounds in wildlife, a colony of seals can ofen be seen basking on nearby rocks - this is therefore the perfect choice for naturalists, birdwatchers, or for anyone seeking complete seclusion and tranquility.
Fishing and boating may all be enjoyed - fishing for one rod is available free of charge and the rod is provided. For young children there is a lovely new playpark in the village, which also has a modern village hall for games. The famous North Harbour Bistro has won many national awards for the high standard of food within its Restuarant and has received much applaud from guests over the years. A walk to the Eilean Glas Lighthouse is a must. Also possible to take a boat ride to local uninhabited islands such as the Shiants.

Welcome to Hamarsay House self catering on the lovely Island of Scalpay. Hamarsay House (named after Hamarsay Island), is a 4 bedroom bungalow on a 10 acre croft on which to exercise pets. The cottage has recently been refurbished extensively both internally and externally to provide a high calibre standard of comfort and hospitality. We accept pets as long as they are kept under control.
You may be sure to enjoy a tranquil break in Scalpay with panoramic views, seascapes, island archipelago, sandy beaches close by, unlimited access to surrounding hillsides and shorelines for glorious views of small uninhabited islands and wildlife. From the hill tops of the croft surrounding Hamarsay House you get magnificent views out to the Minch and surround islands.
